Patterns of the World

The children were very excited to share their patterns from across the world.  We discovered we had more patterns from Asia than any other continent.  We also saw that we had patterns featuring colors, shapes, animals, flowers, curves, dots, lines and more.

Wooden owl from Myanmar
Tray from Myanmar
Blanket from China

Scarf from Egypt
Kai, American Doll from North America
Blanket from Thailand
Fan from China
Beautiful nesting dolls from Russia--there were thirteen more dolls inside!
Wooden tray a heart pattern from Sweden
Wonderful black, grey and white shape patterns!
Turtle sarong from Bali, Indonesia
Journal from Macchu Pichu, Peru
Jewelry from Korea
Decorative plate from Peru
Mat from Guatemala
Doll from Switzerland
Carved animal from Oaxaca, Mexico
Clothing from Vietnam
We began to wonder--why don't we have any patterns from Antartica?  Lots of children recalled that people do not traditionally live in Antartica, and if there are people visiting there and making patterns in the snow, the wind and cold would still blow it away!  We still would like anything with a pattern from Australia, so feel free to bring something in so we can have something from each habitable continent!
