To start thinking about our favorite parts of ourselves, we read the book What's Special About Me, Mama? In our recent social studies discussions, we have thought about citizenship and talked about peacemakers. This week, we stepped back and thought about how we can both collaborate with a friend and share what we like best about ourselves. The collaboration was key, since partners would use the iPad to take a picture of their "best part."
The first step was every child thought carefully about what they like best about themselves.
Then their partner photographed their best part to their liking. Then time to switch!
Each child drew what they like best about themselves and wrote why. We used fancy flare pens to make our writing and illustrations really stand out. Our writers are becoming more confident each day in sounding out their words!
Come see our "Favorite Parts of Me" at conference time next week! Here is a sneak preview...
