Math this Week: Counting by 10s

We practiced counting by 10s this week. In the past few weeks, we have explored what it means to count in sets of 2s, 5s and now 10s, and why it can be useful.  The children took pictures of their favorite "tens" using fingers and toes!  We discovered that we have 130 toes and fingers altogether!

Last week, we held a "Boot Camp" for parents to help explore Singapore Math.  The boot camp notes can be found here.  In the session, our math consultant Cassy Turner discussed bar modeling and its role in Singapore Math in the later grades.  Below are some examples of bar modeling--some fun math for the weekend and some great reminders about the importance of a growth mindset when it comes to challenging problems!
